Eighth Grade

Mr. Savage is an 8th grade homeroom teacher and teaches English Language Arts to 7th and 8th grades.  In the Language Arts classroom, students will take full ownership of their learning in a full participation classroom with arts-based literacy being at the core of how students connect to content and express their knowledge and understanding of: grammar, writing, vocabulary, and literature.

Mr. Shircliff is an 8th grade homeroom teacher and teaches History and Religion to 8th grade. Mr Shircliff’s Catholic Doctrine is an intense class that focuses on doctrinal and dogmatic points along with the Four Pillars of the Church as defined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  There are also additional units on Catholic social issues, morality, Canonization, the Holocaust, the Death Penalty and racism.

Mr Shircliff’s U.S. History class spans the time from Civil War Reconstruction through the present day.  Students will be exposed to some of the most pivotal events, not only in U.S. History, but in world history as well.  This year’s class will include a precise examination of World War I, World War II, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Vietnam War and a special perspective on how television and music changed America in the 1960s and 1970s.  This class will be a special experience for eighth grade students.
