Goals and Expectations: Respect, Effort, Self-Awareness, and study habits are the main goals that we instill and reinforce during 5th grade. 5th graders become more self-sufficient and adjust to the responsibilities of being in middle school.
5th Language Arts is aligned with The Archdiocese of Louisville Curriculum. I use Chromebooks, Smart Board, document camera, and Google Classroom. Concepts include: writing structure and conventions (narrative, exposition, descriptive, and persuasive), weekly reading stories (comprehension, fact/opinion, main idea, sequencing, etc.), and novel projects (a variety of presentation techniques that help students practice oral presentation skills).
5th Math is aligned with The Archdiocese of Louisville Curriculum. I use PowerPoint, Smart Board, document camera, and Google classroom. Concepts include: place value, multiplication, Algebra, double-digit division, decimals, and fractions.
5th Science is aligned with The Archdiocese of Louisville Curriculum. I use Chromebooks, Smart Board, and Google Classroom. Concepts include: properties of matter, forces and motion, growth and survival, ecosystems, water cycle, weather, and earth and space.
